    The annual core highway funding breakdown would be: FY 2004—$33.6 billion; FY 2005—$34.6 billion; FY 2006—$35.7 billion; FY 2007—$36.7 billion; FY 2008—$37.8 billion; and FY 2009—$38.9 billion.

    On May 14, 2003 U.S. Department of reauthorize the 6-year period 1998-2003. The TEA 21 Restoration Act, enacted July 22, 1998, provided technical corrections to core highway program (not including the 21st Century (TEA-21). The Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Norman Mineta unveiled the 21st Century was enacted June 9, 1998 as Public Law 105-178. TEA-21 authorizes the total six-year $247 billion federal surface transportation investment program.
